Duet/Songs is a recording of words imitating sounds based on machine-generated transcripts of insect communication by Ananda Serné.
The text derived from sound recordings of insect calls by entomologist Liao Yi-Chang, were inserted into transcription software originally meant to transcribe human speech. Among the recorded sounds were calls of plant lice that without amplification would be inaudible to the human ear.
Some of these recordings were translated into renditions such as Psst, psst, psst, psst, psst, psst, psst, psst, psst, psst, psst, psst, psst, psst, psst, psst
and LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK LOOK AT THE PEOPLE.
Duet/Songs is curated by Julie Lillelien Porter in response to the exhibitions Living Forgiving Remembering and THINGS WORK AS THEY SHOULD WHEN THEY WORK AS THEY SHOULD in collaboration with Kunsthall 3,14.
PARABOL is the name we use for the sound shower located at Kunsthall 3,14’s entrance hall. The sonic works presented here are curated by Lydgalleriet on invitation from Kunsthall 3,14, with the intention of reflecting the always relevant exhibition themes presented upstairs.
