Shenece Oretha
Ah So It Go, Ah No So It Go, Go So!
13.9.–8.12.2024

Ah So It Go, Ah No So It Go, Go So! by the multidisciplinary artist Shenece Oretha reflects on belonging and land. In the sound installation, growing and grounding echo through poetry, oral traditions and embodied knowing.

Ah So It Go explores the language of horticulture – the art and science of growing a garden – in relation to Black diaspora, migration and culture. The conversation is animated with the rattling of steel barrels and seeds. The title Ah So It Go, Ah No So It Go, Go So! references patois terms, the use of which, in this instance, speak to the formative moments, gestures and familiar phrases that shape us and impart collective and ancestral wisdom.

Shenece Oretha is a multi-inter-un-disciplinary artist based in London. Oretha creates collective and mobilising works activating sound in sculpture, performance, installation, workshops, and prints. Oretha’s works have been exhibited, for example, by Cubitt Gallery in London, (2022), Brent Biennial (2022), and Les Urbaines festival in Switzerland (2019).

PARABOL is the name we use for the sound shower located at Kunsthall 3,14’s entrance hall. The sonic works presented here are curated by Lydgalleriet on invitation from Kunsthall 3,14, with the intention of reflecting the always relevant exhibition themes presented upstairs.

Since 2019, PARABOL has been curated by Julie Lillelien Porter at Lydgalleriet.
